Public Facilities

The Goal:
Establish the OKI region as a national leader in public facilities and services – such as water, energy, and internet utilities – by managing our resources and systems to provide adequate availability for all planned development, and sufficient capacity maintained for all existing development and redevelopment areas.
Opportunity Areas
Coordinate Technology to Attain Regional Efficiency
People rely on local governments to deliver vital services and information that impact the quality of their lives and economic well-being. Increasingly, they expect to be able to interact with the government as conveniently and easily as they do with their favorite commercial brands and service providers.
Advance Health and Safety Measures
To ensure safe drinking water resources remain in ample supply for the region, both surface water and groundwater supplies must be monitored and protected from potential contamination.
Plan, Implement and Invest in Resilient Infrastructure
In 2023, new infrastructure funding program opportunities from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law have dramatically increased. As these programs are developed federally and at state levels, it is expected additional funding will be available to communities for needed maintenance and updating of aging infrastructure.
