Prioritizing Transportation Funding for Projects

In an effort to advance the use of technology that improves the system, OKI awards points in its prioritization process for transportation projects requesting OKI funding that include technology that improves system longevity, traffic performance, and/or overall efficiencies.

Policy Recommendations

5.A OKI will continue to support projects through the prioritization process that apply advancements in technology that enhances the transportation system’s service to the region. OKI will provide support to local jurisdictions, as requested, to inform them of new technologies in transportation infrastructure and service.

5.B State and local jurisdictions should integrate roadway surface technologies that improve safety and longevity of roadway facilities.

5.C State and local jurisdictions should integrate adaptive technology that improve efficiency at signalized intersections .

5.D State and local jurisdictions should coordinate with each other to plan for connected and autonomous vehicles.

5.E State and local jurisdictions should prepare for the use of eVTOLs (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) for freight and passenger trips in cooperation with general aviation airports.

5.F State and local jurisdictions should incorporate smart lanes along corridors, where appropriate.

5.G State and local jurisdictions should adopt transit signal priority, where appropriate.
