Strategic Regional Policy Plan Update

We need your input!

We are updating our long-term regional transportation and land use plan, know as the Strategic Regional Policy Plan,  for 2023.

This plan includes community opinion to help local experts plan for the future in transportation, land use, housing and other important regional issues.

Help us by taking this ten minute survey.

Strategic Regional Policy Plan Survey

We are updating the Strategic Regional Policy Plan plan for 2023 and need input from you, the community.

Please consider filling out this survey and help us plan for important transportation, housing, and environmental initiatives. We would greatly appreciate your help to make sure the plan reflects the opinions and values of all people and places in the region. It should take less than ten minutes of your time.

Please visit the topic area pages you would like to learn more about by clicking on the icons below or selecting topic areas from the “Strategic Regional Issues” scroll-down menu at the top of the page. For each topic area, please view the orientation video then scroll down to view the Strategic Regional Issues and learn more.

Transportation

Provide an effective, balanced, integrated and financially constrained transportation system for the entire region.

Public Facilities

Adequate public facilities and services will be available for all planned development, and adequate capacity will be maintained for all existing development and re-development areas.

Natural Systems

Protect and improve the diversity and sustainability of the region’s natural systems.

Housing

Offer a diverse mix of housing choices – in terms of size, price, type, transit accessibility and location – within communities throughout the region, and maintain and improve the quality of the housing stock in every community in the region, whether newer developments or older neighborhoods, owner-occupied or rental.

Economic Development

Improve cooperation and coordination on economic development efforts and opportunities throughout the region, and provide incentives for such cooperation in order to make our region the location of choice for diverse businesses and to build the regional tax base.

Land Use

Encourage local governments throughout the region to create up-to-date, consistent, and coordinated comprehensive plans.

2012 - 2013 Questionnaire Results

In the fall of 2012, OKI designed and distributed a public questionnaire to gain insight from the community as we re-evaluated our Strategic Regional Issues. OKI received over 2,400 responses and over 1,000 written comments in addition to survey responses. Thank you to our many partner organizations and communities who helped us with this effort.
